There is Nothing to Celebrate in Xabi Alonso’s Goal Against Newcastle
Liverpool managed to make it to the top half of the Premiership after a series of pathetic games against Everton and Chelsea saw their standing drop by winning against a lowly squad in Newscastle. Liverpool won the game with a score of 2 – 0 on goals coming from Dirk Kuyt and Xabi Alonso.
Xabi Alonso was happy to fire a goal from 65 yards straight to the back of the net giving Liverpool their second goal. There is nothing to celebrate really, especially when both goals of Liverpool where scored against a second-rated goalkeeper—Steve Harper—who was clearly off in both instances.

I haven’t seen it (the programme) but I’m looking forward to going home and having a nice cup of tea and a slice of toast and watching it because I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong.

Michael Ballack was given a red card by referee Mike Riley for stomping Mohamed Sissoko of Liverpool. He was in disbelief and in protest of the red card, after it was handed down to him, only to backtrack after video replay evidence showed he was too late and did not have the ball in play when he arrived.
Owen Hargreaves of Bayern Munich fractured his left fibula during their game against Armenia Bielefeld and would be out for at least six weeks.
I did not expect it was going to happen at Old Trafford but I am relieved Arsenal has finally won a game this season against a streaking Manchester United despite missing Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie and Philippe Senderos.
