Arsenal has Unloaded their Guns Against Manchester United
I did not expect it was going to happen at Old Trafford but I am relieved Arsenal has finally won a game this season against a streaking Manchester United despite missing Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie and Philippe Senderos.
Manchester United behind Christian Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha could not put the ball behind the net and the loss dampens the ego of Alex Ferguson who publicly declared they could score ten goals against Celtic.
Emmanuel Adebayor scored on the 85th minute via a finishing counterattack after Cesc Fabregas stole the ball from Christian Ronaldo. Arsenal had a chance to score during the first half when Gilberto Silva’s penalty kick was stopped by keeper Tomasz Kuszczak as he flung to the right.
The win is big for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal because it restores confidence to the club after starting their worst season in more than a decade. To put icing on the cake they played against top Manchester at Old Trafford and without their superstar Thierry Henry. The game played out by the young gunners will help in their maturity which is beneficial to climb to the top of the standings as the season progress.
Arsene Wenger talks about their win: I can keep telling the players they are great but if the words are not backed up by points, it is bound to have a subconscious effect on the players.
People have been writing us off, to the extent that some of them have even had us playing in Division One next season.
I believe they have been very quick to draw their conclusions but equally, I am not stupid enough to think nothing can happen to us.
I have seen very good teams suddenly look average when doubt creeps in.
Given those circumstances, and the authority with which we played, this has to be my best win over United at Old Trafford and one that sends out the right signals to everyone.
