Beckham for Owen
Michael Owen will be out for operation and medical treatment until March of next year because of an injury suffered during their game against Sweden which required two operations instead of going under the knife once as told by his surgeon—Richard Steadman. The slight lateral cartilage damage shall be principally operated on in September another minor one to be determined depending on the success of the first knife.
Ramon Calderon of Real Madrid has been running circus around the media announcing players he is getting for their organization which looks like they are making great strides in turning their club around through new acquisition and possibly releasing talent.
What’s the Connection?
As we know David Beckham is playing for Real Madrid and is rumored to be part of the on-going build up of the organization; though he’s participation is mainly to get his huge salary unloaded by the team. Which team is most likely to pay his huge salary other than his homeland based team who will do it not solely on his skill but his value and command to the English nation?
It makes sense for Newcastle to get his services because they get both David and Victoria’s market value and celebrity status enough to compensate for his bulky paycheck. Do the math…
Quick Counterattack
David’s spokesman in Spain, Simon Oliveira has this to say (from football guardian): David and Victoria didn’t meet with Freddy Shepherd and they haven’t discussed a move to Newcastle. David dropped Victoria at Claridges to have a meeting with her publishers regarding her new book. It just so happened that Shepherd was also there. But there’s no truth of a meeting taking place.
There’s no truth yet, but are there any takers / logical moves for David other than Newcastle?
