Bob Is Not the Solution!
Is Bob Bradley the solution for US Soccer? Is replacing Bruce Arena the logical thing to do? The dismal showing of the US Soccer team in the FIFA World Cup in Germany 2006 has prompted reports that Bruce is not likely to come back as a coach of the team anymore.
Bob Bradley is the leading candidate for the job being the heir apparent to Bruce’s position dating back in 2002. He is a protégé of Arena with D.C. United before transferring to Chicago MLS side where he beat Bruce’s D.C. United in 1998 MLS Cup. His mentoring skills is highly regarded for honing players like DaMarcus Beasley, Josh Wolff, Ante Razov and Chris Armas into national team regulars.
His career suffered a minor setback however in 2005 when he led a mediocre New Jersey MetroStars and saw him booted out prematurely in the midst of a playoff push. Bob is starting to regain his status in Chivas USA which is performing way above it’s expectations.
Is a Coach the Solution to US shame?
How do you expect a country to win a World Cup where the sport is not given enough importance and put aside in favor of Baseball, Football, Basketball and even Hockey. Man, you are not Zeus that can just show up in competitions, let alone, the greatest sporting event in the world and expect to win?
US have a tremendous amount of enthusiastic football players, but how much of these talents are being developed? How many competitive competitions does these players participate in—Gold Cup. That’s not enough and if hiring a coach would give the notion that the U.S. Soccer Federation is serious in it’s bid in the next World Cup then dream on. Expect to be humiliated event after event and stop boasting about any chances you have in competitions like this.
Does Bush watch Football?
That was a quick question asked by colleagues right after U.S. was eliminated in the World Cup. True enough, does the President of the United States care about their country performing well? Does he care as much as Prince Williams did for England?
Only if the U.S. elects a big fan of football are we going to see more emphasis on the sport through programs, competitions, marketing and paying the players big bucks which are necessary for the country to win the World Cup.
Only One Football!
That’s right! Kick football out and start calling “soccer” as “football”.

[...] Though how would you expect a football dismal country to understand this? They don’t have it in their hearts what it means to play at that level. Sorry Youri. [...]

[...] The national team prior to Arena’s arrival saw 60k people in attendance while today only half can be drawn by the squad. But that is lame metrics as today we have a lot of means to get our news as if we are live on the scene from blogs, pda’s, Google Earth, and other technological innovations that enable us to be closer to these players without actually be there physically and cheer. In a bigger contribution, the nation as a whole still struggle to accept Soccer higher than other sports like basketball, baseball and the “other” football, etc. to help grow the sport into a commanding presence.
