Gotcha Youri!
Too bad the camera caught you in France – Brazil game watching live in the stadium. Youri was a member of the 1998 France champion team, asked his current club—New York Red Bulls that he needed to leave them to attend to a personal matter at home.
The team said they granted his leave request just as any player who needs to take care of personal matters; but they were not told he was attending the match as part of his leave request. The team’s spokesman said they will address the situation right away.
What do they need to Address?
Is there a reason to address anything? Youri was a member of the 1999 France champion squad who battled Brazil, the same team they are competing against in one of the most important matches enroute to the Finals. That is a lot of personal reason that will merit a granted leave request.
Though how would you expect a football dismal country to understand this? They don’t have it in their hearts what it means to play at that level. Sorry Youri.
Anyways, despite these reasonings I think his team deserves an explanation for his actions. Congratulations Youri! I am sure you enjoyed the game and was worth any penalties you will get from this.
